A United Arab Emirates Airline Boeing 777-300 made an emergency landing after midnight Wednesday at Budapest's international airport after smoke was detected in the cockpit, local media reported.
The airplane carrying 380 passengers was flying from London to Dubai when sensors in the cockpit gave a warning of smoke, the airport's press and business relations officer Mihaly Hardy said.
The plane's automatic monitoring system had signaled an emergency, but the smoke warning stopped when the plane landed safely, he said, adding that a short circuit is believed to be what had caused the smoke.
Passengers with children have been offered accommodation until a replacement plane arrives in the afternoon, he said.
