Some rockets launched by Taliban militants attacked a gathering in Ghazni province of central Afghanistan on Sunday, at which Afghan President Hamid Karzai was delivering a speech, witnesses and a purported Taliban spokesman said.
There were no casualties in the attack, and Karzai continued his speech, the witnesses said.
The incident occurred at 10 a.m. (0530 GMT) in Andar district, a hotbed of Taliban militants, when Karzai was delivering a speech, asking locals to help the government rebuild this country.
Meanwhile, a purported Taliban spokesman Yousuf Ahmadi told Xinhua by telephone from an undisclosed place that Taliban fighters fired 12 rockets toward the gathering.
It was not immediately known how far the areas hit by the rockets were from the gathering.
Afghan officials reached by Xinhua refused to make any comments.
