British Airways (BA) cabin crew have postponed their strike by one day to next Tuesday.
Earlier the strike was planned to start on Monday and continue for 72 hours, Sky news reported on Tuesday.
TGWU, the union representing the BA staff, said the delay was decided after Willie Walsh, the CEO, intervened.
If there is no compromise, the strike will go ahead for 48 hours over Tuesday and Wednesday, said the report.
Tony Woodley, general secretary for the union, dubbed the delay as a "goodwill gesture" aimed at securing an agreement on sickness absence, pay and staffing.
The dispute is about how long the cabin crew could take their sick leave. At the moment, they take off an average of 12 days a year. Pilots have an average of seven days off a year due to sickness.
BA welcomed the delay of the strike as a "small step forward."
