Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, candidate of the Workers' Party, won a second term in the run-off presidential election on Sunday, election officials said.
With over 90 percent of the vote counted, Lula garnered more than 60 percent compared with former Sao Paulo governor Geraldo Alckmin, who had 39 percent. Election officials declared Silva the winner, saying Alckmin would be unable to pull ahead even if he won all of the remaining votes.
