The opening ceremony of the 110th China Import and Export Fair (the autumn session of the Canton Fair) will be held on October 14, organizers announced at a recent press conference. A forum will also be held to celebrate the 10th anniversary of China's accession to the WTO.

According to Liu Jianjun, spokesman of the Canton Fair and deputy director of the China Foreign Trade Center, this upcoming Canton Fair will be the same as the 109th session with a total of about 58,600 booths spread out in exhibition halls of 1.16 million square meters.

The exhibits will be displayed in 15 categories in 50 exhibition areas. Export products will also be available to domestic buyers and such products will be relabeled.

Liu said that the demand for foreign trade firms for exhibition space remains strong, and that nearly 100,000 enterprises have applied online for exhibition space. The overall exhibition layout is intended to enhance the quality and specialization of exhibits.

Organizers of the 110th Canton Fair have extended invitations to a total of 997,000 merchants. As of August 19, promotion for the fair was completed along 13 routes, with 30 promotion seminars. According to Liu, buyers from emerging economies, particularly the BRICS countries, have expressed a keen interest in the fair.

Promotion campaigns abroad indicate that buyers from developed nations, such as the United States, Switzerland, Denmark, France and Britain, have also demonstrated eagerness to take part in the fair. The amount of deals to be made at this autumn session of the Canton Fair is expected to remain steady, with no significant change over previous sessions.
