Guangdong purchases additional 200,000 Tamiflu to prepare for public health emergency.
On May 14, Guangdong provincial government has rolled out a 34 million RMB plan on buying medical products to treat and prevent H1N1. Besides Tamiflu, the province will spend over 10 million RMB on buying medical machines in meeting urgent public health needs at the local level
Experts said Tamiflu is not sold in pharmacies, and people do not need to take Tamiflu for flu prevention.
An expert from Provincial Disease Control and Prevention Center said, now some cities are still in shortage of medical product reserve to deal with disease outbreak. The provincial health authority has been aware of this potential risk and is urging the city-level health departments to improve their emergency management.
