| Guangdong officials plan to accelerate the development of modern industry in the Pearl River Delta and transform the region into a competitive modern industrial sector, according to a working conference held by Guangdong provincial Party committee and provincial government on August 18th.
Wang Yang, secretary of CPC Guangdong Committee, and Governor Huang Huahua said the region needs to develop the industries' international competitiveness by developing a service-oriented, advanced manufacturing system.
鈥淕uangdong is at a turning point to fulfill its social and economic scientific development,鈥 said Wang. 鈥淭he region will accelerate the construction of modern industry and achieve balanced regional development and solve problems we have faced in economic development.鈥
The provincial government plans to issue favorable tax policies for companies that promote environmental protection and the rapid growth of an advanced manufacturing industry, hi-tech industry and modern service industry, said Wang.
Governor Huang Huahua called for the province to carry out the following eight objectives:
1.Make full use of the cites鈥 advantages and local features to optimize industry layout.
2.Push the hi-tech industry to focus on modern service industries, advanced manufacturing and electronic information industry.
3.Accelerate the upgrade of the current manufacturing industry, encourage a cultural industry and continue financial cooperation with Hong Kong and Macau.
4.Attract foreign investment in newly emerging industries and a modern service industry.
5.Enhance self-innovation capacity
6.Strengthen the construction of infrastructure facilities and promote the development of basic industries.
7.Promote conservation and reduce pollution.
8.Establish efficient mechanisms to coordinate various cities, departments and enterprises.
