| The First phase of the Taishan Nuclear Power Station located in south China's Guangdong province broke ground Tuesday. It is China's first nuclear power unit to adopt the EPR (Electron Paramagnetic Resonance) third-generation nuclear power technology. Guangdong Governor Huang Huahua addressed the project's opening ceremony.
The newly-built Nuclear Power Station stands in Chixi town of coastal Taishan city, south of Guangzhou. It is the fourth power station constructed by the Guangdong Nuclear Power Group within the province.
The first phase of the project includes the building of two EPR third-generation nuclear power plants, with the world's largest capability at 1,750,000 kw for each.
The first unit of the power station will be completed and put into operation by the end of 2013.
