Consul Generals in Guangzhou start their East Pearl River Delta exploration

Today聽(August 25), Consul Generals and officials of 31 Consulate Generals in Guangzhou started their four-day tour to explore the latest development of the East Pearl River Delta. Before the tour started, Vice Governor Wan Qingliang met with all the 鈥渢ourists鈥 this morning and said the tour was with great significance for the year is the 30th year of China鈥檚 adoption of Reform and Opening Up policy, and also the Beijing Olympic just had its closing ceremony on August 24.

Wan pointed out that the tour is to help the Consulate Generals in Guangzhou to view the great changes taken place in Guangdong in the past three decades, and Pearl River Delta is most worth-visiting for its outstanding performance in both economic and social developments. Wan added that the tour introduces to the participating Consulate Generals not only the past of Guangdong but also its future. Currently, Guangdong is making effort to establish a modern industry system and speed up the industry and labor transfers within the province. The province is to seek more collaboration with the world while expanding its modern service, advance manufacturing and high tech industries. And Pearl River Delta will once again become pilot of the province in this development mode switch. Lastly, Wan wished the tour would enhance the communication between Guangdong and the countries the participating officials representing, bring new business opportunities and expand the bilateral cooperation to new fields.

According to the tour organizer, Guangdong Foreign Affair Office, all together 43 foreign guests will visit Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Dongguan and Huizhou, accompanied by Mr. Wan Qingliang, Vice Governor of Guangdong, Mr. Liu Xiaojie Vice Secretary General of Guangdong Provincial Government and Mr. Fu Lang, Director General of Guangdong Foreign Affair Office.
