| Yesterday, powerful downpours caused 368 landslides and killed one person in western Guangdong's Xinyi, Maoming City, forcing 2500 people to evacuate, according to official statistics.
Heavy rain in the past few days has afflicted seven cities of Guangdong Province, affected more than 1.5 million people, threatened nearly 87,473 hectares of farmland and damaged 1,532 houses in Guangdong province till June 8.
The losses of the province were estimated at more than 538 million RMB. In which, the Yangjiang city was seriously affected, with a 227.7 million RMB losses.
Guangdong province would face at least two more powerful rainstorms this month, weather forecasters said. Water levels in some mid-sized and large reservoirs have risen above the warning levels, and local flood prevention authorities have prepared for prompt responses.
