A social and medical insurance network to cover all local residents - this is the target Guangdong provincial government set for itself in the document released yesterday (Sep 3).
The document includes measures to better farmers' livelihood security system, urban residents' medicare system, medical insurance system for retirees from enterprises with financial difficulties. The pension for retirees from enterprises and farms will be raised.
This document embodies the concern of the Party and the government for the people's interests. Experts said some of the polices and measures are first of its kind in China's current social security system improvement campaign.
A special livelihood security insurance system for landless farmers is scheduled to set up, and will be dedicated to compensate the farmers whose land is acquired by the governments.
The medical insurance network is expected to be expended to cover all urbanites. And the 405,000 retirees from the enterprises with financial difficulties will benefit from the system, with the provincial government allocating 1 billion RMB to cover this expense for the coming ten years.
The provincial government will also input 80 million RMB annually to raise the pension for retirees from local enterprises.
For employees working in the farms, the government will add 60 million RMB as special pension.
