Asian Games City to Accommodate 40,000 People during Asian Games Period
Latest Updated at 2009-March-23 10:39:00

During the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games, about 40,000 athletes, technical officials and media staff from across Asia would be accommodated in the Asian Games City. How to make guests feel at home is a complicated issue. On March 18th, Tang Ruping, GAGOC Service Department Director, undertook when introducing the preparations of accommodations for the Asian Games that the "Guangzhou Asian Games would make every guest feel at home. They would receive the best service and the most hospitable reception."

It has been learned that the GAGOC has worked out scientific and humane service rules, requesting all the reception hotels to properly arrange the rooms and catering and create a comfortable and graceful office and residence environment according to the respective customs and unique eating cultures of their guests. At the same time, all the residents in the Asian Games City would all enjoy the comprehensive services with the facilities for entertainment, leisure and shopping available, which will help them live and play happily.

It was introduced that the 2010 Asian Games is the largest and most influential comprehensive sports event hosted by Guangzhou to date. The GAGOC estimated that it needed to arrange accommodations for about 40,000 registered personnel and honored guests from 45 courtiers and regions, which include over 14,700 athletes and accompanying officials, more than 6,300 technical officials, around 10,000 media staff and about 8,100 honored guests from both home and abroad (including about 2,00 honorable OCA guests).

Besides the above mentioned staff, it was estimated that there would be about 3 million person-times of audience and visitors from both home and around the world coming to Guangzhou to watch the games and have a sightseeing tour. For these audience and visitors, the GAGOC would not be responsible for arranging rooms. However, if the Olympic Committees of the relevant countries and regions request so, the GAGOC would assist them in reserving suitable hotels and give first recommendation to the reception hotels that have signed contracts with the GAGOC.
