Guangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee (GAGOC) is now on its second press conference trip around Asia. And Thailand, the four-time Asian Games host, is the third stop. In Bangkok, the visiting Committee met with the local Olympic officials and learned from this experienced Asian Games host.
When meeting with Thai press, GAGOC said, Guangzhou is now improving its transportation and infrastructures. 78 existing venues will be expanded and 12 venues will be built. And all the venues will be within 30 minutes drive from the athlete village.
GAGOC officials stated that the Municipal Government and the public are highly aware of the environment and culture issues and has done planning and started working on the protection of heritage and water resource and the improvement of greenery and town planning.
GAGOC officials also said that they expected the participating countries to the 2010 Asian Games will show their talents both in sports and culture and making the event fantastic games for cultural exchange among the 45 Asian countries and regions.
