A sand carrier clashed into a pier of Jiujiang Bridge on the morning of June 15, causing the middle part of the bridge collapsed.
Last night, the investigation team of the Jiujiang Bridge accident had a web chat with netizens and answered questions that netizens most concerned.
Salvage work
At present, a total of seven bodies and all the four vehicles that plunged into Xijiang River have retrieved. "We are still searching for the last two people, who were missing in the accident", said Mo Qi, the head of the rescue team.
The failure of the salvage in the first few days was mainly because of the unfavorable weather and river conditions. The province is in the flooding season and water level has risen greatly. Visibility on the torrential Xijiang River is low, making it hard for divers and rescuers to search, Mo said.
With plenty of preparatory work had been done, the salvage work went smoothly in the recent days.

Bridge's safety
"We will find solutions to repair the bridge, making it a safe way for drivers and passengers", said Chen Jianhui, director of Guangdong Provincial Administration of Work Safety.
Although initial investigations indicated that the collapse had nothing to do with the bridge's structure design, Guangdong has started a province-wide campaign to inspect all bridge spans.
He revealed that the accident has exposed problems in safety supervision in bridge and water traffic. The government is scheduled to hold a meeting in Foshan City on June 29 on traffic safety administration and bridge inspection.
