High-tech enterprises receive awards
Guangdong government reveal their plan for further promotion of the hi-tech industry with a target that hi-tech output value reach 2900bln Yuan in 2010 in the Hi-tech Industry Conference held in Guangzhou on September 13th.
Huang Huahua, Governor of Guangdong Province, reviews the strategies Guangdong has utilized and analyzes the present situation of hi-tech industry. He points out that Guangdong thinks highly of hi-tech industry, and the high-tech industry has become primitive economic growth drive.
In 2003, Guangdong’s high-tech industry output value hit 644.109bln Yuan, up 37.1% over 2002 or accounting for 23.5% of the total industry output value. It ranks 1st in China in export of high-tech product with a value 48.174 bln Yuan and a growth of 55.6%. Till 2003, 1704 patented hi-tech products see an output value of 383.23bln Yuan. The ratio of hi-tech products exportation against total goods exportation is greatly improved.
Guangdong’s hi-tech sections have distinctive features: External source is well utilized, with electronic and IT industry plays a leading role. Private economy grows swiftly and enterprises become the main drive of technology innovation. But Guangdong is still in short of hi-tech human resources and large-scale leading enterprises.
The government set a target that the high-tech output value shall reach 2900bln Yuan in 2010, and 8000bln Yuan in 2020, science and technology shall be the key factor for Guangdong’s prosperity. Sharpening the international competitiveness by better foreign investment utilization and famous local brand cultivation are essential to the realization of the target.
Besides, 50 outstanding high-tech enterprises are awarded in the conference, including Soutec Technology Co., Ltd., TCL Corporation, Huawei Technology CO., Ltd., ZTE Corporation etc.
