The brand-new Guangzhou University Town has been full of vitality and laughter as the new term starts on Aug. 30th, with the first national flag raised, the first class given. Tens of thousands of freshmen coming from all over the country start their uni life here in great natural environment and academic atmosphere.

Located on the Xiaoguwei Island of Panyu District, Guangzhou, the university town accommodates ten top universities in the province.

1. Guangdong University of Industry: Metal, Metal!

All railings are steel pipes here, teaching building, dormitory, cloister and stairways. One get to know what 'industry' means as soon as he enters the campus.

2. South China University of Technology: An ancient residence among modern teaching buildings

An ancient residence, said to be the palace of royals in ancient China, stands side-by-side with the modern teaching buildings. The university is going to redecorate it into a scientific research center.

3. South China Normal University: a huge dancing butterfly

The teaching building, the largest in the uni town, looks like a huge dancing silver butterfly. It is equipped with advanced facilities, including the supporting service for disables.

4. Guangdong Pharmaceutical College: 'Longest' teaching building

The 460m-long teaching building tops the university town in length.

5. Guangzhou Art College: World of sculptures

Lively sculptures such as Leonardo and Bruce Lee can be found in the university.

6. Weeping willows, sunshine and the Pearl River form a picturesque corner of university town.

7. Star Boulevards

Main road of the university town are named after zodiacs and win the name 'Star Boulevards'. The elaborate road signs, zodiac images, become one of the highlights in the town.

8. Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine: A park of Chinese herbal medicines

The university is filled with smells of Chinese herbal medicine for they are planted everywhere; moreover, university roads are also named after herbal medicines.

9. Sun Yat-sen University and Guangdong University of Foreign Studies: Bell towers

The classical-style bell tower of Sun Yat-sen University and the modern bell tower of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies

10. Traditional residence well maintained

Cultural relics and buildings, especially local residences of traditional Lingnan style, of Lianxi Village in the island are well preserved.
