Chinese Olympic chief Yuan Weimin(R) arrived in Athens on Aug. 8, 2004. A 274-member Chinese team arrived in Athens, Greece for the Athens Olympic Games Sunday (August 15th) afternoon.
Among the first main batch of the Chinese delegation were chef-de-mission and Chinese Olympic chief Yuan Weimin and athletes in 16 sports, namely shooting, archery, table tennis, diving, swimming, weightlifting, fencing, softball, women' s handball, field hockey, boxing, judo, wrestling, cycling, tennis and beach volleyball.
Teams of women's soccer, gymnastics, rowing and women's field hockey had earlier arrived in Athens.
The total number of Chinese Olympic delegates is 637, the country's largest ever for the world's top sporting event.
