The first '9+2' Regional Economic and Trade Cooperation Fair concludes today (July 17th). The 4-day fair sees an exciting contract volume of 292.6 billion yuan (about 35.4 bln USD), implicating members of this largest economic bloc in China begin to seek multi-level cooperation so as to sharpen the whole region's international competitiveness.
In the briefing held today upon the concluding of the fair, Zhong Yangsheng, director of the fair's organizing committee, Executive Vice Governor of Guangdong Province, says the four-day fair is a great success, with 847 contracts signed, involving 292.6 bln yuan.
Governments impel cooperation in railway, water carriage, power, technology, labor, and food, valued at 120.2 billion yuan. Meanwhile, a total of 840 contract among enterprises, involving 172.4 billion yuan.
The fair pushes PPRD members further cooperation
Besides the signed contracts, the fair will bring with it an impetus to push the PPRD regional cooperation to go further.
The fair, held right after the PPRD forum, yields such big trade volume which implicates '9+2' members' demands for regional cooperation, which is in line with Central Government's strategy of 'coordinated regional development'.
Through the 8 themed sector promotion conferences, provinces/regions better their understanding on the advantages of each other, and begins to seek new win-win business chances.
The fair is also help to further the implementation of CEPA by strengthening the eco and trade cooperation between Hong Kong, Macao and Mainland. Hong Kong delegation sees 313 projects inked with 56.3 bln yuan in value, while Macao has 28 inked, involving 2.3 bln yuan.
The great success of the fair strengthens '9+2' members' confidence in bringing forward the multi-level, all-round cooperation in line with the PPRD cooperation framework signed last month.
The fair offers a platform to display the competitive power of their own and of PPRD region as a whole and for enterprises within the region to seek cooperation chances through biz negotiation.
The fair arouses great attention home and abroad, attracting some Fortune 500 to attend sector promotion conferences. A total of 185 media, with 543 reporters, report on the fair.
After the Fair
After the fair, '9+2' members will follow the signed contracts and make sure their smooth going-on. Related governments and departments shall provide a favorable environment for the implementation of projects. The coordination system of '9+2' governors/executive/chairman as well as the multi-level eco and trade cooperation mechanism between '9+2' governmental departments are to be bettered.
The 2nd PPRD regional cooperation forum and PPRD eco and trade fair is undertaken by Sichuan. Guangdong, as the undertaker of the 1st session, will exert efforts to help Sichuan in organizing the activity.
