China's men's badminton team has managed a 3-1 win over Denmark, currently the best European team, in Jakarta, Indonesia in the final matches to clinch again the Thomas Cup after a 12-year wait.
In the first set, Lin Dan, the world number one, nicknamed "Super Dan", easily beat the first Danish singles player, Peter Gade, in straight sets.
But the first Chinese doubles players Cai Yun&Fu Haifeng, currently world number two, lost to world number one pair Paaske&Rasmussen in the second game.
Bao Chunlai revived Chinese hope in his second set against Jonassen, and finally edged out the Dane 2 to1.
Sang Yang&Zheng Bo's 2-nil triumph against Eriksen&Lundgaard confirmed Thomas Cup's return to China, who last held it 12 years before.
A day earlier, China's women beat South Korea by the same 3-1 scoreline in Saturday's Uber Cup final.
