Guangdong, Kuwait to further cooperation in Zhanjiang project

Today, the Consulate general of the state of Kuwait in Guangzhou held a reception to celebrate the 51st National day and 21st liberation day of the State of Kuwait. Both Abdul Wahab Alsager, Consul General of Kuwait in Guangzhou, and ZhaoYufang, Vice Governor of Guangdong Province, emphasized Zhanjiang refining & petrochemical project in their speeches in the reception.

Mr. Alsager said the Consulate General look forward to expand cooperative scope with Guangdong province, especially in energy, investment and commerce.

According to Vice Governor Zhao Yufang, the Guangdong-Kuwait cooperation in energy, economic and trade and infrastructure and other areas saw steady progression. The exchange in the area of culture, physics and humanities have achieved great success. Last year, Guangdong and Kuwait trade went up 63.4% to 11.2 billion USD. Guangzhou, Zhanjiang and other cities also had intimate urban relations with the Kuwait city and Mahmoud City.

Zhao noted that Guangdong is in the important period of twelfth five-year plan, the state of Kuwait is also implementing five-year plan, both sides have a brand-new historical opportunity and vast potentials for cooperation because two countries are facing a common goal in boost transformation, accelerate update, deepen reform and other aspects.
