The People's Daily, China's leading newspaper, is to publish an editorial marking the 83rd anniversary of the founding of the party, which falls on July 1.

The editorial, entitled "consolidating the building of the party through stressing the improvement of ruling capability", says it is an unprecedented and pioneering undertaking for the party to firm the leadership core of the socialist cause with Chinese characteristics, integrating socialism and market economy.

Only through constant summing up of its ruling experience and learning from that of ruling parties in other countries, can the Communist Party of China improve its leadership and ruling capability, and its ability to prevent and withstand risks and corruption, according to the editorial.

Experience shows building ruling capability is the fundamental to the party after it came into power 55 years ago, it says.

It calls on the whole party to push forward the great undertaking of party building in an all-round way and continue, as always, to be at the forefront of the times.

The party was founded on July 1, 1921 in Shanghai, the largest city in China.
