The design concept of the Guangzhou New Library presents the idea of a "beautiful book". The plane and the facade of the library both look like the Chinese character "Zhi" (a zigzag shape) and it also looks like piled-up books done in a unique and graceful style.

The library is designed to contain 4 million volumes, 6,110 seats for reading and 2,520 information allocation spots, altogether holding 10 thousand readers per day, and 15 thousand readers per day at peak times.
