From Sep 2 to 4, Guangzhou Mayor Zhang Guangning led a delegation on a visit to Vietnam and held talks with Mr. Le Hoang Quan, Mayor of Ho Chi Minh City.

Mayor Zhang also attended the Guangzhou-Ho Chi Minh Investment and Trade Fair and studied Vietnam's economic and social development as well as trade and investment environment.

At the Fair, over 30 Guangzhou enterprises and more than 80 Vietnamese counterparts matched their business projects with each other in such areas as building materials, electronic technologies, shipbuilding, textiles and processing trade.

On the afternoon of Sep 4, Mayor Zhang paid a courtesy visit to the Ho Chi Minh Municipal Government. He briefed his host on the 2009 World Council Meeting of the World Organization of United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) to be held in Guangzhou this November and invited Mr. Le Hoang Quan to the meeting. He also extended his invitation to Ho Chi Minh City to send a delegation to Guangzhou. Mr. Le gladly accepted the invitation.
