The Asian Games will be held in November next year. At that time, there will be more than 200 horses from 20 countries passing into China though Baiyun Airport.聽Each horse is worth over 10 million Yuan. How to ensure the safety of these horses has come onto the agenda of the Baiyun Airport management. This will be the first example for mainland airports to transport and secure horses for international matches.

Transportation of horses and other animals for large sporting events is an extremely complex procedure and requires a professional emergency plan. "During transportation, experts are required to observe the mood of the horses. If a horse exhibits moody behavior such as jumping or kicking, it is likely to hurt its hooves and affects its performance in the Games." said an expert.

It is the first time in the history of China mainland to transport and secure horses for such large international event. According to Baiyun Airport management, it is planning to carry out a horse transportation practice session in mid 2010, after discussing the procedures with the Asian Games Organizing Committee. At the end of November in 2010, Baiyun Airport will welcome the 200 horses and witness the breakthrough of horse transportation for large sporting events in the Mainland.
