Lingnan Landscaping Introduced into the Asian Games City

Water, riverside communities as well as tropical trees and fruits like bananas, litchees and banyans, all that embody the characteristics of Lingnan landscaping would be introduced into the Asian Games City, according to the preliminary blueprints made by the Guangzhou Construction Commission.

Located at Shilou Town, Panyu District, the Asian Games City covers about 39,914 square meters, of which about 5,794 square meters would be for construction. 63.36% of the area would be covered by plants. In addition, three riverlets, Guanchong, Nanpaichong and Yufengchong, run through the city. According to the preliminary plans, constructions with Lingnan characteristics will be built on banks of the said three riverlets.

As for the tropical trees, Bauhinia blakeana Dunn and Cassia surattensis would be planted at the entrances to buildings and bananas, podocarpus, Lagerstroemia fordii and Osmanthus fragrans var semperflorens would be planted indoors.
