The 16th Asian Games will apply a sports information system which was first introduced at the Sydney Olympic Games, the organizing committee announced on Tuesday.

Rao Jian, technology officer with the Guangzhou Games organizing committee, said the contract for the core system of the Asian Games is nearly complete and the prep work has begun.

The bidding for the Time & Scoring System is also underway, with final supplier to be selected this June, Rao added.

The Games' data center is also complete and will soon be in operation.

"Our investment into the information system will not only guarantee the success of the Asian Games but also meet the need of the Guangzhou citizens long after the Games," said Rao.

The 16th Asian Games will start in South China's Guangzhou in September, 2010.
