The International Tourism Expo of Guangzhou opened in Guangzhou Thursday, with 460 exhibitors from 40 countries and regions in attendance.
Overseas exhibitors, including those from the United States, Belgium, Mexico and Chile, account for 45 percent of the total participants. That is a slight increase in comparison to last year, according to the Guangdong Provincial Tourism Bureau.
The expo features 12 major types of business themes, ranging from tourism administrations and associations, travel agencies, hotels, scenic sites, theme parks, golf clubs and airlines.
The combined floor space of business booths was 15,000 square meters.
The Guangzhou tourism expo, launched in 1993, has been viewed as a window of China's tourism industry.
Last year it attracted 420 exhibitors from 36 countries and regions. Overseas exhibitors accounted for 43.7 percent of the total.
The expo was organized by Hannover Fairs China Ltd., a Chinese subsidiary of the German-based Deutsche Messe, one of the world's largest trade fair organizers.
It closes Sunday.
