Three new Guangzhou Metro line projects, with a total length of 53.4 kilometers, have been approved for construction as part of the city's 2005-2010 infrastructure completion plan.

Approved by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), the three projects include the second part of line six and the first parts of lines seven and nine. Construction is scheduled to finish in 2010, at which time Luogang, Panyu and Huadu Districts will have one additional Metro line each.
The course of the three Metro lines has been confirmed, but definite station locations have not yet been determined.
Metro line six will connect Tianhe Coach Terminal with Luogang District, transferring at Dongshankou Metro Station on line one.
Metro line seven will connect Luogang and Huangpu Districts, transferring at line eight.
Metro line nine will run from Huadu Auto Town to Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport and finally connect with northerly line three.
