Guangzhou launched the first round of trainings for the volunteers recruited for the 16th Asian Games on December 14th. 713 members selected from over 20,000 applicants as well as over 60 winners of the English competitions for the Games have received the training. They could be officially recruited as volunteers for the Games, only if they have finished their professional training and passed the examinations.
As a qualified volunteer, not only would he or she have universal service concepts and mastered the service techniques but they would have to constantly enrich their professional knowledge and accumulate experience, said a lecturer of the training - Professor Tan Jianguang, Deputy Chairman of the Guangdong Young Volunteers Association and Director of the Research Institute of the Guangdong College of Young Cadres.
