Xihu Pailou

It was learned from the Yuexiu District Spring Festival Flower Market Headquarters that the annual Xihu Road Flower Market and Donghu Flower Market will be open from 8 am on January 23 to 2:00 am on January 26, 2009, and will again be located on Xihu Road, Jiaoyu Road and Dashatou 3rd Roads.

As Guangzhou's longest-running flower market, the Xihu Road Flower Market, it will, this year, add musical elements. The public can enjoy Guzheng music when browsing the flower market, the music matching the lingering charm of the thousand-year-old commercial and trade capital. The Xihu Road Flower Market has established a Guzheng performance stand at the "hexagonal pavilion" at the crossing of Jiao Road and Xihu Road and Gushing players will present music especially arranged performances.

Additionally, the Pailou design of next year's flower market will be another highlight. According to relevant authorities of the Yuexiu District, the Pailou itself is, in essence, a huge abstract bull. The design stands, for not only Guangzhou people's strength and persistence to build the top model city, but also for their resolution and spirit to build Guangzhou into the "most bullish" area in Guangdong Province. The Chinese zodiacal mascot, a giant bull, placed in front of the Pailou, is moving the Earth and walking forward visually, also represents the people's good wishes for next year's global economy that it may walk out of the bear market into a bull market.

In addition, the Xihu Road and Donghu Flower Markets will make announcements in Putonghua, Cantonese and, as well, in English. Both flower Markets have contracted two professional English interpreters and the guidance instructions within the flower markets are all to be bilingual, in both Chinese and English.
