The Guangdong 2008 International Tourism and Culture Festival, namely PPRD Tourism Promotion Convention, is to run between November 28th and December 4th, with the opening ceremony to be held at the Tianhe Sports Center on November 28th (Friday). The closing ceremony will be held in Zhongshan. As the first of over 120 events, the Guangzhou (International) Gourmet Festival is to kick off at Grandview Plaza at 10:00 a.m. on November 25th.

Most of the events will be held in Guangzhou, with others to be hosted in cities located almost in every corner of Guangdong Province, including Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Shantou, Foshan, Shaoguan, Heyuan, Huizhou, Zhongshan, Zhanjiang, Zhaoqing, Qingyuan, Chaozhou and Jieyang. In this way, visitors can gain insights into the culture and tourism resources of the whole province.

Great events at this festival include the Forum on Opening-up in Guangdong: the Cooperation and Development in Modern Tourism, "Jackie Chan and his friends" in Concert, the Tourism Promotion Conference, the Tourism Promotion and International Travel Expo, the PPRD Tourism Floats Parade, the Lingnan Folk Art Performance, the Sister Cities Gala Evening, the Guangdong Tour of the Overseas Chinese Celebrities and a Tourism Festival on the Internet.
