On 17th November, the Guangdong Provincial Government will prepare to build, or purchase, a number of houses as policy-related rental houses in order to fill the transitional residence requirements of urban low-income families. The households are to be relocated due to building demolitions. These citizens, some of whom are not entitled to buy the economically affordable houses or rent low-rent housing and, some of whom may have lower wages than the average level of the local residents' income, will be assisted to accommodate their needs.

Based on policies related to the rental housing program of the Guangdong Provincial Government, Huang Xinjing, Deputy Director of the Guangzhou Housing Support Office, noted that Guangzhou will follow Provincial policies. The Guangzhou Municipal Committee and the Municipal Government have paid close attention to this problem and the resouces of the public rental housing authority have been put forward in Guangzhou.

It is believed that, if we assume that, in accordance with the definition of the policy-related rental housing authority, purchasers as, defined by the Provincial Department of Construction and the present housing support policy of Guangzhou, that people with an annual income between 18,287 Yuan and 40,188 Yuan, may enjoy the benefits of policy-related rental housing.

In this regard, real estate experts predict that policy-related rental housing programs will compensate for the current shortage of rental housing units. It is also felt that the program will help promote multi-level construction of housing systems in the future.
