It was learned from the Guangzhou Local Taxation Bureau on August 4th that the Guangzhou Port Group realized a profit of RMB 328.17 million and paid RMB 162.98 million in taxation, increasing by 40% and 100% on a year-on-year basis for the first half of 2008.
In the first half of this year, Guangzhou Port had completed a container throughout of 5.99 million TEUs in total, ranking China鈥檚 third major port in terms of container throughout, among which the increase range for foreign trade container transportation accounted for up to 37%, ranking the world鈥檚 No. one major port in terms of increase range and the domestic bound container maintained a large increase.
In the first half of this year, the throughout completed by the container transportation production of Guangzhou Port accounted for 44% of the total throughput of goods of the port, up 9 percent over that of last year end. The container throughout of Nansha Port in the first half increased by 76.2% on a year-on-year basis. It was expected that the total container throughout of Guangzhou Port would exceed 11.40 million TEUs this year
The most highlighting spot for the transportation of Guangzhou Port was the transformation from a feeder port into a container trunk-line port. The modern high efficiency port with full infrastructure support sped up the transfer of the international logistics industry. With the six 50,000-ton container berths of Phase II of Nansha Port put into production, there was an obvious improvement in the capacity of container throughput.
