The Guangzhou Olympic Scientific Congress is held a week prior to the opening of Beijing Olympic Games and boasts as the biggest convention ever on sports science since its first edition put on in Germany in 1972. It includes a large number of scientific categories and a rich program. During the 4 days, more than 30 symposia were held with invited speakers from different countries and regions. Besides, the convention provides an opportunity both for the communication and networking between scholars and practitioners.
The Guangzhou Congress is named 2008 International Convention on Science Education and Medicine in Sport. It's the first time for the Olympic Scientific Congress to unite four international organizations of ICSSPE (International Council of Sports Science and Education), FIMS (Federation of Medicine Science), IOC (International Olympic Committee) and IPC (International Paralympic Committee), and for the General Administration of Sport of China and the People's Government of Guangdong Province to co-organize the convention.
