According to Guangzhou Daily, a household local news portal, Guangdong had included "The State's Crude Oil and Petroleum Product Storage Project" and "The State's Petroleum Product Storage Base (Shenzhen)" into the province's new "Ten Key Projects". At present, Guangdong is still in application for these two State-level projects.

The State's Crude Oil and Petroleum Product Storage Project is expected to start construction in 2009 and start operation in 2015, with storages located in Huizhou in East Guangdong and some cities in West Guangdong. The project budget is about 6 billion RMB.

And the State's Petroleum Product Storage Base (Shenzhen) is also to start construction in 2009, with a capacity to store 800,000 cubic meters of oil products.
