On the evening of July 14th, the French Consulate General held a banquet at the Guangzhou Ritz-Carlton Hotel to celebrate the French National Day. Guangdong Vice-Governor Wan Qingliang, vice chairman of the CPPCC Guangzhou Committee, and other officials attended the event.

On behalf of the Guangdong Provincial Government, Mr. Wan Qingliang extended his greetings to the French Consul General in Guangzhou Jean-Raphael and his wife and all the French people working or studying in Guangdong. By April 2008, France had 253 investment projects in Guangdong province, with a contracted investment of 1.2 billion U.S. dollars, said Mr. Wan. Last year, France signed with Guangdong an 8-billion-euro nuclear technology cooperation agreement, which further deepened the economic and trade ties between the two sides.
