The soaring unit price of LPG (Liquid Petroleum Gas) for autos dropped back to the original 3.64 RMB (USD 0.53) each liter, due to the emergency intervention of local municipality in Guangzhou on June 20.
The LPG price was once raised by almost 30% to 4.73RMB (USD 0.69) by the largest vendor in the city, Lian Xin, on June 19, because of the recent rise of gas price. The huge rise posed much cost pressure to local operators of public commutation, most of whom are LPG users.
Guangzhou government plans to provide subsidies and preferential supporting policies to public commutation operators (e.g. bus and taxi companies) to ease their cost pressure from the increased gas price.
