It was learned from the Guangzhou Traffic Department that the city will optimize its urban public traffic network cosmically in the near future in a bid to meliorate traffic jams during rush hours, reduce overlong bus waits and augment the too few public traffic lines in peri-urban regions.

It was disclosed that the coverage and scale of traffic line adjustments is second only to that made in 2003. And, the Communications Commission of Guangzhou Municipality will release the adjustment plans soon and solicit public opinions.

In 2003, Guangzhou made unprecedented optimization adjustments to its public traffic networks, the largest ever. Since then, Guangzhou has initiated public buses in the non-public transit regions several times. And, the opening of metro lines has also made it easier for the public to travel. However, with the expansion and development of Guangzhou City, especially the growing traveling demand in the peri-urban regions, it seems that the existing public transit network still has many problems to deal with and there are exceptional challenges in rare regions. The survey by the Communications Department shows that there are five specific deficiencies cited for the present public transit network.

The Communications Commission of Guangzhou Municipality said that, after a survey, the department has formed a preliminary plan to optimize services on the public transit networks which will effectively solve the problems of traffic jams in rush hours. Too, the inconvenience of traveling in the urban-rural crisscross areas and suburbs will be addressed. It was learned that the adjustment plans will be released soon to solicit public opinion.
