The Guangzhou Municipal Taxation Bureau recently announced that, as provided in the documents of State Administration of Taxation, the tax levy threshold rose from 1,600 Yuan (about 220 U.S. dollars) a month to 2,000 Yuan, and will go into effect on March 1.
The 4800 Yuan standard deduction for wage and salary income remains unchanged for international personnel.
This policy will be enforced when this month's wage is actually obtained. The Municipal Taxation Bureau emphasizes that the term, "by actually obtained", means the point of time when employees get paid, rather than the period of time the wage covers.
