Shenzhen International Airport on Friday set ceilings for the prices of 52 kinds of products, including mineral water, milk and instant noodles.
Bottled mineral water is on sale for less than three yuan (US$0.42) per bottle and a 250-milliliter carton of milk costs less than four yuan. The maximum price for a bowl of instant noodles is five yuan.
Passengers can call the airport authority鈥檚 24-hour hotline number 2777-6426 to report the businesses which violate the rule.
More than 20 businesses at the airport, including eateries and convenience stores, promised to price their products at the same level as city supermarkets.
The businesses were given the title of 鈥渞ecognized quality business operator鈥 by the airport. Passengers can demand an apology and a refund of the price difference if these businesses are found to have violated their commitment.
To better protect passengers鈥 interests, the Shenzhen airport also required restaurants and fast-food chains to keep the cost of at least one set meal at below 18 yuan.
