The last all-night ferryboat in Guangzhou said farewell to passengers on March 5.
It has been learned from the Guangzhou Ferry Company that the all-night ferryboat (00:00 鈥 05:10 a.m.) routes from Huangsha to Fangcun Dock has suspended service from March 5. Guangzhou citizens in need would have to choose other transportation means instead.
Due to the lack of a bridge over the Pearl River in the area, the ferryboat used to be very busy, operating 24 hours a day with 10 minutes between ferryboat during the day and 15 minutes at night. The whole passage only took 5 minutes.
According to the relevant sources from the Guangzhou Ferry Company, the cargo boats carrying sand and stones come and go with a high frequency and a fast speed in this river section at night, which complicates the night navigation environment. With an eye on the small passenger flow of the all-night ferryboats and the perfect road traffic supporting facilities in the neighborhood with several all-night buses, the cancellation of the all-night ferryboat would not affect the normal travel of the citizens.
