Guangdong has been the national champion in contributions to the national revenue for a 17th consecutive year. The province's tax revenue in 2007 has reached 775 billion RMB from 329 billion RMB in 2003, with an annually increase of 21.4 percent, released the Executive Vice Governor Zhong Yangsheng, in a finance and revenue working meeting held in Guangzhou on January 9.
Zhong said the local county-level governments' financial management capabilities has been strengthened, the average budgeted revenue went up to near RMB 290 million in 2007, while the figure was RMB 352.2 billion in 2003.
The province budget for public service rose 75 percent in the period of 2002-2006.
Zhong also urged the province to improve the finance and revenue supervision, better the financial resource allocation and increase the expenditure in education, medical care and social security.
