Government officials paid a visit to the exhibition of blueprint designs for the Asian Games City held at the museum located in Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center, to be briefed about the tender for reconnoitering the building cluster in the Asian Games Village.

Mayor Zhang Guangning required that the Asian Games City should not only play its role in the Asian Games but that it also can be used for other purposes after the Games. As part of Guangzhou New City, the Asian Games City will turn into a large, multi-use community in itself. Therefore the design, including all building in the city, should satisfy the needs of various residents. Since all functional sections in the city will developed into communities, the designers will take into consideration support facilities focusing on business, health care, education, parking and traffic so that residents can live and work easily. Additionally, considering that the Asian Games City will act as a support area serving industries in Panyu and Nansha Districts, the design and construction of public facilities will be taken into consideration.
