The International Cooperation Summit for Asia-Pacific CEOs & Provincial Governors and Mayors began on December 13th. Six hundred people attended the summit, including Zhu Xiaodan, Secretary of the Party Committee of Guangzhou Municipality, Mayor Zhang Guangning, Bob Hawke, Chairman of the Asia-Pacific CEO Association and former prime minister of Australia, officials from the Asia-Pacific region, CEOs, Chairmen of the board and presidents from the world鈥檚 top 500 enterprises and Forbes Global 2000 enterprises. The theme of the summit is harmonious economic globalization.
Zhang Guangning said that with the 2010 Asian Games being held in Guangzhou, there would be a lot of projects in Guangzhou concerning infrastructure construction of expressways, rail transport, airports and seaports and construction of large sports venues, the Asian Games Village, the information center as well as some projects related to environmental protection, culture and education. All of these projects are open to international tendering. Capital would be collected through BOT and transfer of stock rights. Guangzhou welcomed foreign investment in these projects and hopes to strengthen cooperation with the Asia-Pacific countries in the service industry, trade and headquarters economy.
Bob Hawke expected that the Asia-Pacific CEO Association and the International Cooperation Summit for Asia-Pacific CEOs & Provincial Governors and Mayors could promote global economic cooperation, speed up internationalization of enterprises and their international cooperation, and make greater contributions to economic development in the Asia-Pacific area and harmony and prosperity worldwide.
The summit also witnessed three forums focusing on the development of headquarters economy, international industry shift and environmental protection & sustainable development.
