The Regulations on Rail Transportation in Guangzhou (hereinafter Regulations) are to go into force on January 1st 2008. Meanwhile the Regulations on Subway Transportation in Guangzhou promulgated on October 27th 1999 will be abolished.

Compared with "subway transportation", the rail transportation referred to in the Regulations includes a larger range of transportation methods, including rail rapid transit such as subway and light way.聽聽

In accordance with the Regulations, if the rail transportation fails to operate normally, traveling passengers have the right to ask for a refund for the tickets they buy.

The Regulations stipulate that those who travel with pets or poultry and livestock will be fined RMB50.

Those who pile up odds and ends or set up booths at stations, platforms or other transport facilities and those that scribble or post without permission on cars or other transport facilities shall be fined between RMB50 and RMB200.

RMB20 to RMB50 shall be fined for littering, spiting, urinating or pollution caused by chewing gum at stations聽聽

The Regulations contain seven chapters of fifty-one articles, including general provisions, management on construction, protection of facilities, operational management, security and emergency management, liabilities and appendix. 聽
