The experts' team from the organizing committees of the Australian International Sports Competition with abundant experience in many important international competition events such as Sydney Olympic Games and Doha Asian Games recently came to Guangzhou and met with GAGOC about the experience in hosting the Asian Games.
Sandy Howell, the Chairman of 2000 Sydney Olympic Organizing Committee said the 2010 Asian Games in GZ should be an unforgettable event. As for Guangzhou, the Games should be a project matching the city麓s international metropolis status, showcase its modern, energetic, beautiful image and differentiate the characteristics of Lingnan Culture.
Recommendations from the experts included that, when designing the competition venue, the reuse of it following the Asian Games should be taken into consideration. By doing so the temporary venue can be small in size and well equipped with all needed facilities for the working staff. The small-sized venue can then be easily used by citizens in the community after the Games and waste will be minimized.聽聽
