Recently a forum as held in Guangzhou for "the acceleration of the reconstruction of unsafe and broken buildings in urban areas".
Deputy Secretary General of Guangzhou municipal government Wang Dong disclosed that 6 cultural relics, 216 historical buildings and 7 public facilities had been designated as protection constructions in the latest Enning Road reconstruction plan. Bruce Lee's former residence, arcades, bluestone paved alleys and dozens of big trees are on the list.
This year, reconstruction will be carried out in three areas of Guangzhou, respectively, Enning Road of Liwan District, Donghaoyong of Yuexiu District and Nanhuaxi of Haizhu District.
Different from previous projects, the Enning Road reconstruction adopted a new mode. "Funded by the government, district governments are to demolish houses and related planning department to propose a reconstruction plan ". The relocation funding is about RMB 1.1 billion.聽
