A report on economic analysis released by Guangdong provincial statistics bureau and development and reform committee indicates that county-level economy in the province made coordinated development last year.
According to the report, 67 counties including county-level cities in the province generated a total product value of 465.986 billion yuan (US$61 billion) last year, an increase of 14.9 percent from 2005 and creating a new record. Zengcheng came first again by garnering 32.186 billion yuan worth of GDP and 1.606 billion yuan worth of financial income.
The economic development in the counties has the following features.
Economy continues to accelerate Economic growth in the counties enhances every year. The growth was 11.4 percent, 12.8 percent and 14.9 percent respectively during the past three years. Among the 67 counties, 59 counties saw their growth rate exceeding 10 percent, 10 more than that of 2005. Top five counties in GDP growth rate include Qingxin County (38.9 percent), Fogang County (38.3 percent), Lianping County (29.7 percent), Dongyuan County (27.7 percent) and Yingde (25.7 percent).
Economic strength continues to increase
In 2006, the GDP generated by the counties reached 465.986 billion yuan (US$61 billion), accounting for 17.8 percent of the province's total. Fifteen counties saw their GDP exceed by 10 billion yuan, four more counties than that of 2005. The top five were Zengcheng, Gaozhou, Chaoan, Boluo and Huazhou, ranging from 32.186 billion yuan to 15.556 billion yuan.
Per capital GDP surpasses 10,000 yuan
Per capital GDP in the county area reached 10,690 yuan last year, up 13.9 percent. Thirty counties saw the per capital GDP exceeding 10,000 yuan, six more than that of 2005. Zengcheng again captured the top place by realizing 41,887 yuan in GDP. It is followed by Heshan, Conghua, Kaiping and Huidong. Among the 67 counties, 57 saw their GDP growth rate exceeding 10 percent, 15 more than in 2005.
Financial income increases by big margin
Local financial general budgetary income in the counties in 2006 reached 15.056 billion yuan, up 25.3 percent. Among the counties, Zengcheng topped with a financial income of 1.606 billion yuan. It was followed by Taishan (693 million), Conghua (638 million), Kaiping (626 million) and Boluo (561 million). The top five counties that saw rapid growth rate in financial income are Heping (75.8 percent), Xinyi (54.1 percent), Dongyuan (53.1 percent), Yingde (50.1 percent) and Qingxin (50.1 percent). Their growth rate was higher than 50 percent.
