According to the Guangzhou Young Volunteers Association, beginning this year, the municipal government will provide financial support to volunteer services. The first funding amounts to RMB 600,000.

Guangzhou has officially begun drafting the Volunteers Services Ordinance and 12 legal volunteers and related experts commented that Guangzhou should establish a relief worker mechanism and that, in order to provide for the interests of volunteers, insurance should be bought for them.

South China Normal University Law School Professor Zeng Erxiu called for volunteers and volunteer organizations to enhance the awareness of the need for self-protection of volunteers while providing services, and he recommended that volunteer organizations set up a contingency plan for to provide protection for volunteer workers.
