Beijing Olympic Torch Relay world partner Coca-Cola brought the 2008 Beijing Olympic torch to Beijing Road, Guangzhou, creating a conducive atmosphere for the launch of the forthcoming Olympic torchbearer selection in Guangdong Province.

This is the first time that the Beijing Olympic torch arrived in Guangzhou. Former Olympic diving champion Sun Shuwei unveiled the torch, becoming the first Guangzhou citizen who has kissed and held high the torch.

Though having attended many grand ceremonies, as the first Guangzhou citizen holding the torch, Sun Shuwei seemed very excited. He changed to various positions, sometimes holding high the torch, sometimes making a V-sign, and sometimes kissing the torch. Until reminded by the moderator, he finally put down the torch.

"I have participated in the Olympics, but never seen the Olympic torch in such close distance. This is the first time for me..." Sun Shuwei said that he was seeking to become the Beijing Olympic torchbearer.

People waited in a long queue on Beijing Road. Over 100 people got a precious opportunity to take photos with the torch. Even foreigners tried to have a close look at the torch.
